DEMOBILISED AND DIED (Burnley Express 5/3/1919)

Demobilised quite recently, Pte. Leonard Wareing, of the 4th Manchesters, whose parents reside at 13 Dale-street Burnley, contracted influenza from which pneumonia supervened, and death took place, the funeral being at the Burnley Cemetery on Saturday. A firing party and bugler from Preston represented the military authorities and the interment was of a very impressive nature.
Though not yet 20 years of age, Pte Wareing had nearly 3 years Army service to his credit, enlisting before he was 18. In 1917, whilst serving in France, he was wounded, and since that time has remained on home service. Formerly he was with the Loyal North Lancashires, but he was transferred to the Manchester Regiment some time ago.
The Wareing family have lost another son in the war, in Corpl. Tom Wareing of the 1st East Lancashires, who was killed in the Somme offensive of July 1, 1916: while a third son, Pte. Herbert Wareing, was gassed and wounded whilst serving in France with the R.A.M.C. This son is expected home shortly.
