DEATH
FROM PNEUMONIA
(Burnley Express 24th August 1918)
Mrs Thompson
of 65 Waterloo Rd. has received information that her husband, Pte. W.A.
Thompson of the Kings Own Royal Lancaster Regiment died of pneumonia on
August 5th 1918 at Dover Court Hospital,Norwich. He joined the forces
last April and was 28 years of age. He was a weaver before the war, but
for several months he worked on munitions at Barrow. His name is on the
Roll of Honour at St. Aidan's. His brother Pte. 18117 Harry Thompson 16th
Lancashire Fusiliers is serving in France. His parents reside at 1 Diligent
St. In addition to a widow the deceased soldier leaves a child ten months
old. His wife's brother has lost one soldier brother Pte. Charles Dixon
8122, 1st East Lancashire Regiment, another brother Pte. George Dixon
is serving.
