I am the great nephew of the above man. He was one
of two brothers. The other brother John Edward was unfit for service because
of poor eye sight.
James Henry died in 1919 of meningitis and as you correctly record he
is buried in Rawtenstall. My father Arthur Preston when he was alive (1913-1998)
said that he could remember on Uncle James death bead he was taken in
to see U. James and that James referred to dad as “ little memsab”.
This reflected James time in India pre war.
In late 1918 and 1919 he was staying at my grandfather’s house John
Edward and was nursed by my grandmother Grace
