Although the following obituary appeared in the Burnley Express of the 18th May 1918, it has not been possible to confirm his death. he does not appear on the Commonwealth War Graves information, nor on "Soldiers died in the Great War" A COLLIER TERRITORIAL News has been received by Mrs. Ingham of 21, Lydia-street, off Trafalgar-street, Burnley, that her son, Pte. John Ingham, 241253 of the Burnley Territorial's, was killed in action on March 21st. He was formerly of Print-street and was 22 years of age in January last, and single. He enlisted in September 1914, and was in training with the second line, going out in February last year. Previously he was a drawer at Bank Hall Colliery and very well known and respected.
