Mrs. Threlfall,
of 54, High-street, Burnley, has received the sad news that her son, Drummer
Edwin Harling, 29753, of the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry, was
killed in action on September 19th. A sad feature of this case is the
fact that his step-father, Gunner J.T. Threlfall, R.F.A., died in France
some time ago as a result of gas poisoning. Drummer Harling was single
and 21 years of age. He joined up two years ago, and previous to doing
so was a cloth finisher at Cairo Mill Dye Works. He attended St. Oswald’s
and is on the roll of honour at Sandygate School. listed
as Edwin Swindles in Soldiers Died
