Fell was born in 1890 the son of Margaret Fell of 18 Hart Street, Burnley
and William Fell. He enlisted in Burnley in September 1914

A short time ago a letter, received
by a friend in Burnley from the front, stated that Pte 240634 Albert Fell
of the East Lancashire Regiment whose parents reside at 18 Hart Street
has been killed in action and the sad intelligence was officially confirmed
last week, death being as having taken place sometime between March 21st
and April 2nd. This serves to show that there was continuous fighting
at that period from the commencement of the German push. The deceased
who had attended St Peter’s Day and Sunday Schools, enlisted in
September 1914, and going abroad on November 13th saw service in Egypt
and the Dardenelles. While fighting he was wounded, and also gassed. He
was an ardent sportsman, being a swimmer, football player and athlete
in connection with St Peter’s, being a member of the Swimming, Football
and Old Boys’ Clubs, and also the Burnley Lads Club. When St Peter’s
won the Sunday School Swimming Championship he was a member of the team
as also were two of his brothers. Previous to enlisting he was a weaver
at Messrs J. R. Cooper’s Scar Top Mill. Besides having two brothers
in the Army, the deceased had many relatives serving.”
Albert Fell was christened
at St Peter’s Church on 22/1/1890. His parents were William and
Margaret Fell of 4 Pilling Street. His father’s occupation was listed
as miner.
Albert was admitted to St Peter’s Infant School on 7/11/1894 and
lived on Norton Street. Albert was admitted to St Peter’s Mixed
School on 1/2/1897 from Pickup Croft School and lived at 4 Pilling Street.
